1. Make sure the edit button is either the one provided by Notes or if it's one you added it includes 'editDocument' code.
2. Make sure your view doesn't have a form formula that presents a different form that just looks like the one you expect.
3. Make sure the form doesn't include any event code that effectively keeps the doc in read mode.
4. Make sure you have edit rights with the db and the form design.
Just curious, when you create the doc via VB, are you setting a value for the field 'form'? If not, the app will attempt to open the doc using the default form. That could be causing you problems too.
